World No. 2 Adam Scott commits to the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance

Dublin, Ohio – Officials of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance announced today that 2013 Masters Champion and the current No. 2-ranked player in the world Adam Scott will compete in the 39th edition of the prestigious invitational Tournament hosted by golfing legend Jack Nicklaus.

The Tournament has also accepted commitments from two of the top young stars in professional golf to compete in this year’s Memorial: eight-time PGA TOUR winner Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed, a three-time winner in the last 10 months.

The Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance is May 26 - June 1 at world-renowned Muirfield Village Golf Club.

Scott has been a model of consistency throughout his professional career, recording at least one PGA TOUR victory in all but three years (2005, 2009 and 2012) since joining the TOUR in 2003. Along the way, the 33-year-old Australian native has collected 10 TOUR wins and career earnings totaling $34,257,715. Scott has finished inside the top-25 in all six events he’s entered this year, including three top-10 finishes to currently rank 57th in FedExCup points and No. 2 in the world. Scott will be making his ninth start at the Memorial, looking to add to his career Tournament earnings of $661,561.33. He has recorded two top-10 finishes at Muirfield Village Golf Club, with his best outing coming in 2006 when he finished in a tie for fourth place. Last year Scott finished in a tie for 13th place to bring his Memorial scoring average to 71.83.

Johnson, 29, has been a rising force on the PGA TOUR since recording his first TOUR victory in 2008 at the Turning Stone Resort Championship. He has since posted at least one win each season en route to eight total PGA TOUR victories and $23,254,063 in career earnings. The Myrtle Beach, South Carolina resident has recorded five top-10 finishes this year, including a victory at the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions and a runner-up finish at the Northern Trust Open. Johnson currently sits fifth in FedExCup points and is ranked No. 13 in the world. He will be making his seventh start at this year’s Memorial. His best finish and only top-10 came in 2011 when he was fourth. His career statistics at the Memorial Tournament include earnings of $502,888.33 and a 72.32 scoring average. Johnson missed the cut last year at Muirfield Village Golf Club after opening rounds of 73 and 76.

Reed, 23,will be making his Memorial Tournament debut. He burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2013, and he recorded his first-career top-10 finish in just his 19th start. Before the season concluded Reed added four more top-10s to his resume, including his first PGA TOUR victory at the 2013 Wyndham Championship. Reed has remained hot in 2014, posting two victories and seven top-25 finishes over 14 events. His solid play has launched him into fourth in the FedExCup standings and to his current spot at No. 24 in the Official World Golf Ranking. The Texas native has earned $5,322,980 in his brief career.
