O.A.R. with special guest Rusted Root set to play 10th annual charity concert benefiting the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation and Nationwide Children's Hospital alliance

Dublin, Ohio – Officials of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide announced today the details of its 2016 benefit concert. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, IGS Energy Evening with O.A.R. and special guest Rusted Root presented by City of Dublin will benefit the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation and Nationwide Children’s Hospital alliance. Proceeds will support the Memorial Tournament Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

“We are tremendously proud to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Tournament’s annual benefit concert,” said Dan Sullivan, executive director of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide. “Ten years of support for the concert speaks volumes about our sponsors and the community who have helped to generate significant funds for the Memorial Tournament NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit).”

With the continued support of IGS Energy, now entering its seventh year as title sponsor, and City of Dublin who has backed the event from its inception in 2007, the benefit concert has raised more than $682,000 for Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

"We are thrilled to once again support this amazing concert event that benefits such a worthy cause. As a Central Ohio-based company, we are proud to give back to the communities we serve," said Scott White, president and CEO of IGS Energy.

The 10th annual benefit concert will be held Friday, May 20, at EXPRESS LIVE! in Columbus. Special guest Rusted Root will take the stage first, followed by O.A.R. VIP doors open at 6 p.m. EDT. Tickets are available beginning March 24 at $175 per person or $350 per couple. For more information, please visit www.mtbenefitconcert.com or call (614) 355-5410.

In June 2010, a charitable alliance was announced among the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide, Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation for the benefit and advancement of pediatric care. With this aligned vision, all proceeds of the concert directly benefit the young patients served each day by the Memorial Tournament NICU at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Advancing newborn critical care in the Memorial Tournament NICU is already evident with its family-centered environment that provides the highest quality medical care for premature and sick infants. The NICU is the largest neonatal network in the country. Rigorously trained neonatologists, advanced practice nurses and therapists utilize an interdisciplinary care approach to diagnose and treat patients suffering from complex birth defects, respiratory distress and metabolic diseases. This combined expertise makes the Memorial Tournament NICU one of the finest in the nation.

General admission tickets for O.A.R. with special guest Rusted Root go on sale March 24 at all Ticketmaster locations. About O.A.R.: Of course, some would say co-founder and lyricist Marc Roberge and his O.A.R. band mates have been in the driver's seat since he, guitarist Richard On and drummer Chris Culos formed their first group in 8th grade in Maryland in the early '90s, bonding over their love of Pearl Jam.

Three years later, in 11th grade, bassist Benj Gershman came on board and O.A.R. - of a revolution - was born. Saxophonist Jerry DePizzo, after meeting Roberge and Culos at The Ohio State University, joined the band full time in 2000. Sixteen years after the group's first release, O.A.R. has come to stand for authentic rock music that reflects the collective triumphs and tragedies we all experience in this world: Real people making real music that resounds deeply with their fans.

Classic American author Thomas Wolfe famously stated “you can’t go home again,”but don’t tell that to the members of O.A.R. On their eighth studio album, THE ROCKVILLE LP, the shape-shifting rock band found that returning home triggered a journey of creative renewal and inspiration.

O.A.R. is renowned for its intense, vibrant live show —including selling out Madison Square Garden twice —and the communal feeling it shares with its fans. With each studio album, the band has endeavored to achieve that sense of immediacy. On THE ROCKVILLE LP, “it comes the closest,”Roberge says.”Every live band I know will always want nothing more than to carry their live performance onto the album.  It’s an elusive thing to capture, so I’ll never say we nailed it,”Roberge says. “But I can guarantee we put that same live show energy and passion into each minute of THE ROCKVILLE LP and we can only hope the audience feels that.”
