Defending Memorial Tournament winner Bryson DeChambeau joins World No. 1 Dustin Johnson and major championship winner Jason Day to highlight early commitments to the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide

Dublin, Ohio – Officials of the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide announced today that the Tournament has accepted entries from 2018 Memorial winner Bryson DeChambeau, World No. 1  Dustin Johnson and major championship winner Jason Day to compete in the 44th edition of the prestigious invitational hosted by golfing legend Jack Nicklaus.

The Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide is May 27–June 2 at world-renowned Muirfield Village Golf Club.

DeChambeau enjoyed a breakthrough season in the 2017-18 PGA TOUR campaign, and his playoff victory in the 43rd Memorial was the catalyst. He recorded a career-best nine top-10 finishes en route to his first multi-win season since turning professional in 2016. His three victories propelled his season earnings to more than $8 million and a third-place finish in FedExCup standings. The California native has continued his inspiring play this season, grabbing three top-10 finishes through 10 starts, including his fifth career PGA TOUR title at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. He also won the Dubai Desert Classic in January, his first win on the European Tour. His current FedExCup ranking is 19th, and he sits at No. 8 in the world. At 24 years, 8 months and 18 days, DeChambeau became the fourth-youngest winner in Memorial Tournament history behind Hideki Matsuyama, who was 22 years, 3 months and 7 days in 2014, and Tiger Woods’ 1999 and 2000 victories. In two career starts at Muirfield Village Golf Club, DeChambeau has earned $1,636,000 and his scoring average is 69.25.

Johnson, 34, is coming off a third straight multi-win season on the PGA TOUR for the first time in his career. Since 2016 he has recorded 41 top-10 finishes and 11 victories, including his first major championship title at the 2016 U.S. Open. That same year he also swept the PGA TOUR’s post-season competition-based awards. Johnson was a first-time recipient of the Jack Nicklaus Award as the PGA TOUR Player of the Year, the Arnold Palmer Award as the TOUR’s leading money-winner with more than $9 million in earnings, and the Byron Nelson Award for lowest adjusted scoring average at 69.17. Since recording his first TOUR victory in 2008 at the Turning Stone Resort Championship, Johnson has posted at least one win each season en route to 20 total PGA TOUR victories and $60,193,428 in career earnings. A resident of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Johnson has six top-10 finishes in just 10 starts this season, including a win at World Golf Championships-Mexico Championship. He currently is No. 5 in the FedExCup standings and is the top-ranked player in the world, a position he has held in the Official World Golf Ranking for a total of 87 weeks during his career. Johnson will be making his 12th Memorial start and has career statistics that include earnings of $1,455,501 and a 71.48 scoring average. Johnson finished T-8 last year. His best career outing at Muirfield Village Golf Club came in 2016 when he finished in third place.

Day has become a solid fixture atop PGA TOUR leaderboards since winning his first title in 2010 at the HP Byron Nelson Championship. Since then he has posted 15 top-10 finishes in major championships alone, including a T-5 finish at this year’s Masters Tournament. He captured his first major in 2015 at the PGA Championship and owns a total of 12 PGA TOUR titles. He recorded five top-10 finishes in 20 starts last season, including two victories at the Farmers Insurance Open and Wells Fargo Championship. The 31-year-old Australian native, now living in Columbus, Ohio, has been a member of four International Presidents Cup squads (2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017) and has PGA TOUR career earnings of $45,190,585. His five top-10 finishes this season help place him No. 13 in the world ranking and No. 31 in FedExCup points. Day will be making his 11th start at the Memorial. He grabbed his best finish at Muirfield Village Golf Club in 2017 when he tied for 15th. He opened with a pair of 68s in last year’s Tournament to grab a share of fourth place heading into the weekend. Back to back 74s in the final two rounds resulted in a T-44 finish. Day’s Memorial Tournament earnings stand at $345,497.44 and his scoring average is 71.91.
